Lamka, June 20, 2026: The Kuki Women Union (KWU), Sangaikot Sub-Division, has strongly condemned the alleged abduction of Mr. Letkhojang, son of Mr. Jamkholam and Mrs. Nemlhing, from T. Lamjai village in the early hours of June 19.
In a statement issued on June 19, the Kuki Women Union claimed that unidentified men in khaki attire, speaking Hindi and English, allegedly took the victim from his residence at around 3:00 a.m. in the presence of family members.
Describing the incident as an act of terror and intimidation against innocent civilians, the KWU demanded immediate clarification regarding the circumstances of the alleged abduction and called for the victim’s safe and unconditional release within 24 hours.
The organization further issued a 12-hour ultimatum to those responsible — whether an insurgent group, government agency, or any other entity — to identify themselves and explain the incident.
The union warned that failure to comply could lead Kuki civil society organizations and members of the public to undertake appropriate forms of agitation. It also urged authorities to act promptly and appealed to the public not to spread unverified information regarding the case.
