Kuki CSOs Refute Kidnapping Claims on NH-202 Corridor

UKHRUL — The Kuki CSO Working Committee (WCKCSOs)-Ukhrul has issued a clarification dismissing reports alleging the kidnapping of an Indian Overseas Bank staff member, identified as Kharaingam Jaojo, near the Shangkai–Mahadev stretch of NH-202. The committee labeled the allegations as unfounded propaganda intended to misrepresent their ongoing counter-economic blockade.

The release stated that enforcement of the blockade adheres strictly to published guidelines and that no individual has been detained or forced out of vehicles. Clarifying a recent incident, the committee noted that an India Post truck carrying commercial vegetables and grocery items alongside postal goods was intercepted. While the commercial goods were confiscated and destroyed, the driver, vehicle, and postal mail were allowed to proceed.

The WCKCSOs-Ukhrul highlighted that the stretch between Mongkot Chepu and Mongneljang is actively monitored by security personnel, including Litan Sareikhong Police, BSF, CRPF, and the Indian Army. The organization appealed to media houses and the public to verify details prior to sharing reports.
