Lamka, 11 July 2026: The Kuki Students Organisation (KSO), Churachandpur, Zomi Students Federation (ZSF-GHQ), and Hmar Students Association (HSA) have demanded the immediate withdrawal of two admission notices issued by Manipur University, alleging that students from their communities have remained excluded since the outbreak of ethnic violence in May 2023.
According to the three student bodies, nearly 400 postgraduate and 80 PhD students have been unable to access the university campus and continue their studies. They argued that the ongoing admission process ignores the plight of affected students and fails to ensure equal access to higher education, contrary to the principles of accessibility laid down by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
The organisations have called for the establishment of a Manipur University Study Centre in Churachandpur, exemption from CUET (PG) 2026 for students from the affected districts, and fresh admission notifications with at least one month's application period. They warned that if their demands are not addressed within one week, they will intensify their democratic agitation.
