Imphal, August 16, 2026: Former Manipur Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh and State Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam left Imphal for New Delhi on Saturday.
Neither leader disclosed the official purpose of their visit when approached by media persons at Imphal airport.
However, a reliable source said the two leaders travelled to the national capital following an invitation from Union Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss the prevailing situation in Manipur.
They are also expected to attend a meeting at the BJP national headquarters, with a high-level meeting involving the Union Home Minister reportedly likely.
Meanwhile, BJP National General Secretary (Organisation) B.L. Santosh is also expected to visit Imphal, where he is likely to meet BJP MLAs and other party leaders.
