KNF rejects allegations over T'wilang attack on Naga people

IMPHAL, August 27, 2026: The Kuki National Front (KNF) has categorically rejected allegations that armed Kuki militants belonging to the KNF (P), KNF and Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA) attacked Naga civilians between Makui Asang and Thanamba Naga village at around 8:30 am on August 27, 2026.

In a rebuttal issued by the Office of the Kuki National Front, Kukiland, the organisation described the allegations as “completely baseless, fabricated and malicious”.

The KNF said it was concerning that whenever violence occurs in areas inhabited by a particular community, allegations are quickly made against Kuki SoO groups, particularly the KNF, without what it described as “a shred of credible evidence”.

According to the KNF, the latest allegations relating to violent incidents in the T'wilang area were another attempt to manufacture a narrative by linking the KNF to an incident with which it said the organisation had no involvement.

The KNF reiterated that it had no involvement whatsoever in the alleged attack. It argued that repeatedly circulating unsubstantiated accusations does not make them true, but instead amounts to what it called a deliberate campaign to malign Kuki SoO groups and undermine their credibility.

The organisation further alleged that the motive behind the propaganda was to tarnish the image of Kuki SoO groups, particularly the KNF, and create obstacles to the ongoing political dialogue with the Government of India.

The KNF said it had maintained this position consistently and would not remain silent while what it termed falsehoods were systematically circulated to provoke suspicion, deepen communal divisions and derail the fragile peace process.

It urged those responsible for spreading what it described as misleading propaganda and making reckless accusations to stop immediately.

The KNF also appealed to all concerned to exercise restraint and responsibility in the larger interest of peace, communal harmony and lasting understanding among Manipur's diverse communities.

The organisation said it remained committed to peace and the political dialogue process, while warning that continued vilification through what it called deliberate falsehoods would not be accepted in silence. It urged those spreading such claims to desist and refrain from turning misinformation into another source of conflict.
