MSU Urges MPSC Reforms, OTR Changes for Applicants

Aizawl, August 10, 2026: The Mizo Students’ Union (MSU) has urged the Mizoram Government to address difficulties faced by students and job seekers in the Mizoram Public Service Commission (MPSC) recruitment process, particularly regarding the newly introduced Online One Time Registration (OTR) system.

According to a press release issued by the MSU on Monday, its leaders met Chief Minister Lalduhoma and raised concerns over various issues relating to MPSC examinations and recruitment. The union pointed out that MPSC has issued as many as 16 corrigenda in recent times, which it said indicated shortcomings in the recruitment process and had caused difficulties for students and job seekers.

The MSU said the Chief Minister listened to its concerns and assured the union that the issues raised would be followed up seriously.

The student body made several recommendations concerning the MPSC Online One Time Registration (OTR) system.

It urged that candidates who have already uploaded their documents through the OTR system up to August 10, 2026, should have their submissions accepted, provided the documents are genuine.

The MSU also called for an end to the requirement for candidates who have submitted documents online through OTR to separately submit the same documents for offline or office verification.

It further requested that candidates be given an opportunity to update their documents in the OTR system within a two-week period, particularly in cases where corrections or updates are required.

The union also urged the MPSC to make the online OTR system more user-friendly and ensure that applicants do not face unnecessary difficulties while using the system.

The MSU additionally called for changes in the structure of the MPSC examination system. It proposed that the Controller of Examination-I should be responsible for Group-A and Group-B Gazetted examinations, while the Controller of Examination-II should handle Group-B Non-Gazetted examinations.

The MSU said such measures would help streamline the examination and recruitment process and reduce difficulties faced by candidates.
