Ukhrul, August 15, 2026 (DIO): Ukhrul joins the rest of the nation in celebrating the 80th Independence Day at Bakshi Ground, Ukhrul, despite the emergency total shutdown called by the UNC.
The Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul, Shri. Uppuluri Chaitanya, IAS, who is the Chief Guest of the occasion unfurled the National Flag and received the ceremonial Guard of Honour from five parade contingents.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion today, the Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul stated that the same spirit of sacrifice and hard work that gave us the freedom must now guide us in building a stronger nation- through education, through service and through the steady efforts which one can contribute to the community and the country.
Highlighting the achievements of various departments, he added that such achievements reiterates the commitment of the district administration towards citizen centric and development of the society. Also, the provided governmental schemes highlights the developmental opportunities for the public at their disposal, he added.
Urging the citizens of Ukhrul to fully utilise the services and schemes provided through various government departments of the district, the Deputy Commissioner also encouraged the youths to take responsibility of developing the society and the country so that the future generation witness the true potential of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
As part of the programme today, certificates of appreciation were awarded to 32 employees for their commendable service. The celebration was attended by all officials and staffs of different departments under the district administration.
