DIMAPUR, September 18, 2026: Young badminton player Kimkim Khongsai has made a strong mark in Nagaland’s sporting circuit, winning both the Women’s Singles and U-19 Girls’ Singles titles at the recently held Nagaland State Badminton Championship.
Kimkim, originally from Chonjang village in Kangpokpi district of Manipur, moved with her family to Dibrugarh, Assam, in 2023 amid the violence in Manipur. The displacement brought uncertainty over whether the young shuttler would be able to continue her badminton career.
Her sporting journey took a new turn after she joined the Suchitra Badminton Academy in Hyderabad, where she received advanced training and continued to develop as a competitive player.
Kimkim later began representing Nagaland after obtaining a No Objection Certificate from the Badminton Association of Manipur.
Her decision to compete for Nagaland has been followed by a series of notable achievements. In June 2026, she represented Nagaland at the Yonex-Sunrise All India Sub-Junior National Ranking Tournament in Hyderabad, where she won the U-15 Girls’ Singles title. She also secured the U-15 Mixed Doubles title partnering Mizoram’s Liansangpuia.
Her latest success at the Nagaland State Badminton Championship has further established Kimkim as one of the promising young players in the state’s badminton circuit.
Her major titles in 2026 include:
๐ All India U-15 Singles Champion – 2026
๐ U-15 Mixed Doubles Champion – 2026
๐ Nagaland Women’s Singles Champion – 2026
๐ Nagaland U-19 Girls’ Singles Champion – 2026
