Lhungjang Village Authority Denies TIM Media Claims

CLARIFICATION & CONDEMNATION OF THADOU INPI MANIPUR (TIM) MEDIA RELEASE DATED 07-Sept-2026

We, the Village Chief and the Village Authority of Lhungjang Village, have seen the Media Release issued by Thadou Inpi Manipur (TIM) bearing Ref. No. 04/TIM/2025/MR dated 7th September, 2026, with the caption "Lhungjang Is a Thadou Village".

In this regard, we issue the following clarification for general information and for all concerned:

1. We have no connection with TIM: The Village Authority of Lhungjang and the Village Chief have no connection, affiliation, or communication whatsoever with Thadou Inpi Manipur (TIM). TIM has no mandate to speak on behalf of Lhungjang village or its Chief.

2. Strong condemnation of misuse of our village name: We strongly condemn TIM for misusing the name of Lhungjang Village for its own political interest. Dragging our peaceful village into a controversy and making allegations against the Superintendent of Police, Kuki Inpi, and other organisations in our name, without our knowledge and consent, is highly objectionable and condemnable.

3. Ground Reality of Our Village: For the information of all concerned, we hereby clarify the ground reality:

• a) There is only Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) personnel deployed in our village for security purposes by the Government.

• b) There are no KRA, KNF (P), KNF (N) or any other armed militant groups present or operating in Lhungjang Village. The allegation that militant groups are operating under the cover of IRB is completely false.

3. Our stand for peace: Lhungjang is a peaceful village. We condemn the arson attack on Lhungjang Primary School. We desire peaceful coexistence with all neighbouring villages and communities. We will not allow any organisation to use our village as a battleground or as an operational area.

4. Strict Warning Not to Use Our Village Name: We strictly warn and direct Thadou Inpi Manipur (TIM) not to use the name of Lhungjang Village, in any of its press releases or statements in the future without our prior written consent.

Therefore, we hereby disown, refute, and strongly condemn the Media Release dated 7th September, 2026, issued by TIM. We appeal to the general public, all civil society organizations, and media houses not to believe or trust the false press release issued by Thadou Inpi Manipur (TIM) in the name of Lhungjang Village.
