CSOs Reaffirm 1951 Base Year for Updating Manipur NRC

Proceedings of the seminar cum workshop on “Re-affirming base year 1951 (cut-off-date, 0:00 hrs. of the 1st march, 1951) for updating National Register of Citizens (NRC) and Evaluating Manipur State Assembly Resolution (No. 6, dt. 2.9.26) held at Sangai Hall, Hotel Imphal at 10:00 am with Shri Professor Laishram Ladu Singh, former V.C., Bodoland University, Assam as Moderator.

The seminar cum workshop is jointly organized by the following CSOs of Manipur State:

2. Meitei/ Meetei Tribe Union;

3. Arambai Tenggol;

4. Meitei Leepun;

5. Kabui Union Manipur;

6. Kom Union, Manipur;

7. All Manipur Muslim Organizations Coordinating Committee;

8. Rongmei Youth Organization, Manipur;

9. Manipur Ima (Internally Displaced Persons, Manipur);

10. All Inpui Student's Union;

11. Thadou INPI Manipur;

12. Mao Union Imphal;

13. Manipur Naga Youth Organization;

14. Zeliangrong United Committee, Manipur Valley (ZUCMV);

15. Aimol Union Manipur;

16. Kharam Tribe Union Manipur;

17. Indigenous Peoples' Forum;

18. Zeme Student's Organization, Manipur;

19. Rongmei Naga Student's Organization, Manipur (RNSOM );

20. Liangmai Naga Kaiimai Puangdi Manipur (LNKRM);

At the outset of the seminar cum workshop, deligates from the different CSOs and community leaders, various intellectuals from Manipur University; Panel of Experts from the Manipur State Population Commission; Law Makers; Journalists; etc. have deliver their valuable views and resolved the followings unanimously.

Resolution No. 1: It is resolved to re-affirm the “Base Year (cut-off-date/ reference date)” for updating National Register of Citizens (NRC) 1951 on 0:00 hour of the $1^{\text{st}}$ March, 1951 and the same will be urging to the authorities of the State and Central Governments for immediate necessary action.

Resolution No. 2: It is also resolved to form a corresponding Committee representing all the CSOs of Manipur in connection with the updating of NRC 1951 before conducting Census & Delimitation. The committee will be pursuing time to time appeals/ demands to the authorities in connection with the updating NRC 1951.

Resolution No. 3: It is also resolved to urge to the authorities to arrange a “Tripartite Talk” among the Government of Manipur, Government of India and CSOs on the possible conditions so as to update the NRC 1951 base on 1951 in the State of Manipur before conducting Census & Delimitation.
