NPO Slams Deputy CM Nemcha Kipgen Over Abduction and Murders

SENAPATI — The Naga People’s Organisation (NPO), Senapati District HQ, issued a press release on September 6, 2026, expressing strong surprise and dissatisfaction with the response of Deputy Chief Minister Smt. Nemcha Kipgen to statements made by Deputy Chief Minister Shri L. Dikho.

Key Points Raised by the NPO:

• Abduction and Murders of Naga Civilians: The NPO questioned how Smt. Nemcha Kipgen could speak of peace efforts while remaining silent on the abduction of 20 innocent Naga civilians and the subsequent brutal killing of six. The organization challenged her claim that these individuals were merely "detainees," noting that six were killed in a horrific manner with their bodies dismembered and mutilated.

• Contrast in Leadership and Response: According to the NPO, Shri L. Dikho faced immense public and political pressure to secure the release of 14 Kukis. Conversely, the NPO alleged that Smt. Kipgen refused calls and switched off her phone when her intervention was urgently required to save the six Nagas.

• Discrepancy in Numbers: The NPO refuted Smt. Kipgen's statement regarding approaching Kuki civil society organizations (CSOs) to release 18 Naga detainees, clarifying that the actual number of abducted individuals was 20. Of those, 14 persons — including a breastfeeding infant — were released through an exchange arrangement, leaving women and children who witnessed the abduction as direct observers.

• Allegations Regarding KNF-P: Pointing out that the involvement of KNF-P (a group associated with her husband) is in the public domain, the NPO demanded to know on what basis Kuki CSOs were approached for the release of the abductees and why those responsible have not been arrested.

• Defense of Shri L. Dikho: The NPO defended Shri L. Dikho's peace initiatives, highlighting his visits to Kuki, Naga, and Meitei areas alongside MLA Kimneo Haokip Hangshing and MLA Ram Muivah during the Litan incident. The NPO dismissed Smt. Kipgen’s characterization of Dikho's statements as "false, vexatious, and baseless," calling on her to provide clear answers rather than denials.
