KANGPOKPI, October 30, 2026: The Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU), Sadar Hills, has issued an urgent travel advisory asking all Kuki-Zo people residing in Sadar Hills and adjoining Kuki-inhabited areas to refrain from travelling beyond Kuki-inhabited areas of Sadar Hills until further notice, citing the prevailing volatile security situation and continuing threats to civilian safety in Manipur.
In an advisory issued on October 30, CoTU expressed serious concern over the vulnerability of civilians travelling through areas where their safety cannot be guaranteed. It categorically stated that no travel should be undertaken outside Kuki-inhabited areas, irrespective of whether the journey is for essential or non-essential purposes.
The committee emphasised that the risks associated with travelling under the prevailing security conditions were too serious to be taken lightly, asserting that the protection of human lives must take precedence over all other considerations.
Clarifying the purpose of the advisory, CoTU said it was issued purely as a precautionary measure in view of the serious security concerns confronting the Kuki-Zo people. It added that the decision was neither intended to create panic nor provoke any community, but was aimed solely at preventing the possible loss of innocent civilian lives.
"Our collective priority at this critical juncture must be the protection of our people. No journey is worth risking a human life," the advisory stated.
CoTU further announced that the travel restrictions would remain in force until further notice.
