In a press release issued on 11 October, the association alleged that the armed groups opened fire on civilian protesters and set houses in Chassad village on fire. It reported that two Kuki civilians, identified as Mrs M. Dhomei Toutang and Mr Michael Ngamminlen Haokip, were killed in the incident, while houses were destroyed.
The KCA-M further claimed that the incident formed part of a continuing pattern of attacks on Kuki civilians and villages. According to the association, the number of Kuki civilian deaths in attacks allegedly linked to Tangkhul-led NSCN factions since 17 March 2026 has reached 30 as of 10 October.
The association alleged that the violence was not an isolated law-and-order incident, but part of a broader pattern affecting Kuki villages and ancestral lands in Ukhrul, Kamjong, Tamenglong and Noney districts. It also accused the groups concerned of attempting to draw other tribes, including Liangmei, into the conflict and deepen hostility between communities.
KCA-M's demands
Calling for urgent action, the association has made three key demands:
Registration of an FIR and arrests: It called for the immediate registration of an FIR for murder, arson and criminal conspiracy against all those allegedly involved, including the relevant cadres and IRB personnel, followed by arrests under applicable provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Compensation and reconstruction: It demanded ex-gratia compensation of ₹30 lakh each for the deceased victims, along with full compensation and urgent reconstruction of the houses burnt in Chassad village.
Security for vulnerable villages: It urged the Central Government and security forces to recognise the ground situation and adequately deploy Central forces to protect Kuki villages in Kamjong, Ukhrul, Tamenglong and Noney districts against further attacks.
The KCA-M reiterated its position that a separate administration in the form of a Union Territory with a legislature, under the Constitution of India, was necessary to ensure lasting peace and security for the Kuki-Zo people.
The association also extended its deepest condolences to the bereaved families of Chassad village.
