LAMKA, November 4, 2026: District Police, Churachandpur, organised a one-day Superintendent of Police (SP) and Officer-in-Charge (OC) programme on Wednesday for the winners of an essay-writing competition conducted as the second phase of the screening process under its ongoing “Friends of Police” initiative.
The selected students assumed charge of their respective offices early in the morning and took part in routine police duties, including roll call and physical training (PT).
During the day, the student officers held meetings with various stakeholders, petitioners and police personnel to deliberate on their concerns and address the problems faced by them. They also participated in ground patrolling and undertook preventive measures against individuals identified as troublemakers.
Several notable decisions and enforcement measures were undertaken by the One Day SP and Student OCs during their tenure. These included issuing orders for poppy destruction operations and seizing 15 vehicles fitted with modified silencers. The owners of the vehicles were bound down, and the modified silencers were destroyed.
The student officers also issued 35 electronic challans (e-Challans) for traffic violations and removed tinted films from 31 vehicles. Coordinated action was also taken against underage drivers.
Additionally, store and welfare items were handed over to various police units, while 17 individuals identified as troublemakers were bound down under the relevant provisions of law as part of preventive measures.
District Police, Churachandpur, expressed gratitude to all civilians, members of the media and representatives of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) who attended the programme and appreciated the initiative.
The police expressed hope that the programme would cultivate essential leadership qualities among the youth of the district and help bridge the gap between the police and the public.
District Police further stated that the Friends of Police programme is an ongoing initiative and will gradually bring more schools and colleges under its ambit. Similar opportunities will be provided to the best-performing students on a quarterly basis.
