MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
This memorandum of understanding (MOU) is made and entered into on the 21" August 2024 by and between: Chandel Naga People's Organization (CNPO) - First party AND KUKI INP, Tengnoupal - Second party.
Whereas, both parties desire to enter into an agreement in which they will work together to achieve certain aims and objectives regarding:
1. Safe release of Mr Sheikhogin Baite S/o Rev. Thongngam Baite, T. Zangnom village, Core committee member VW, Tengnoupal, Moreh from the custody of Naga army.
2. Safe release of Two Naga army officers from the custody of Kuki National Army-Burma (KNA-B).
3. To foster better understanding and peaceful Co-existence between the Kukis and the Nagas in general.
Whereas, the purpose of this MOU is to create and provide conducive atmosphere, the parties desire
and wish that this document will not create any form or manner of a formal agreement but rather an agreement between the parties to work together in such a manner that would promote a genuine atmosphere of collaboration in support of effective partnership and leadership to maintain meaningful
dialogue and strife for peaceful coexistence between the Nagas and Kukis.
Whereas, the parties represent that, they have obligation and influence to meet the following terms and conditions:
The Kuki Inpi Tengnoupal will make sincere effort to secure safe release of the two Naga armybofficers from the custody of KNA-B at the earliest.
Kuki Inpi Tengnoupal will sincerely work and promote better understanding and peaceful coexistence between the Naga and kuki peoples.
The Chandel Naga people's organization (CNPO) will continue to work earnestly to foster better understanding and for peaceful coexistence between the Kuki and Naga peoples.
On the other hand, the CNPO has fulfill its obligation of securing the safe release of Mr Sheikhogin@Hegin from the custody of Naga army.
The concern party that fails to honour this MOU in letter and spirit will be held responsible for any untoward consequences.
