The last hearing of the case was on May 4, 2025, where the Hon'ble Chief Justice of India refused to accept the CFSL Report submitted by the Government, as the Hon'ble Court observed some manipulation in the Report. The Hon'ble Chief Justice also made a strong observation during the hearing, stating that "the Government need not try to protect the guilty (N. Biren Singh)".
After KOHUR submitted the authenticity of the leaked audio tapes of N. Biren Singh as directed by the Hon'ble Supreme Court, the Government requested the Supreme Court to allow them to prove the authenticity of the same audio tapes at the Central Forensic Science Laboratory of the Government. The Court allowed them to do so, and subsequently, the Government was caught manipulating the forensic report to save N. Biren Singh.
The Hon'ble Supreme Court directed the Government to submit the correct CFSL report again by July 21, 2025. As such, the case is likely to be taken up in the last week of this month.
