ENGBU Condemns Indian Army Strike on ULFA-I Camp

The Eastern Nagaland Gaon Bura Union (ENGBU), the apex body of Gaon Bura Unions representing eight tribes of Eastern Nagaland, has issued a strong condemnation of the Indian Army's drone and missile strikes on July 13, 2025. The attacks targeted ULFA-I camps allegedly located within the NSCN-K Base Area (United Base Area) in Naga-inhabited regions across the Myanmar border.

In an official statement signed by Mr. Y. Chuba, President of ENGBU on July 18, the union condemned the violence in the ENPO region, terming the incident as a threat to ongoing peace initiatives. The statement pointed out that NSCN-K (Ang Mai and Mulatonu factions) are currently in the process of negotiating a ceasefire with the Government of India (GOI), and such military action undermines the fragile peace process.

The ENGBU further expressed discontent with the GOI's repeated delays in resolving the Naga political issue and urged the central government to deliver a long-awaited solution that respects the aspirations of the Naga people.
