Governor of Manipur and DGAR Hear Public Grievances Presented by Kuki-Zo Council
The Kuki-Zo Council (KZC) today held an official meeting with the Hon'ble Governor of Manipur, Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla, at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner's Office, Churachandpur, at around 12:50 PM. In the meeting, the KZC raised 16 key public issues concerning the welfare and development of the Kuki-Zo inhabited areas. Among the important points highlighted were:
Urgent upgradation of electricity capacity for Kangpokpi and Churachandpur.
Repair and maintenance of local roads across all Kuki-Zo districts.
Landslide concerns along the Tipaimukh road.
Development of key roadways linking Churachandpur to Chandel and Kangpokpi.
Appointment of a neutral Advocate General in the Manipur High Court.
Rectification of jurisdictional anomalies in the District Transport Office, Police jurisdiction, and Land Revenue Office.
Posting of a neutral Deputy Commissioner (DC) in Chandel district.
Establishment of an examination centre for the Manipur Public Service Examination (MPSE) in Kuki-Zo districts.
Salary arrears of over 10 months for staff of Moreh College and SEMCO College in Tengnoupal and Chandel.
Improvement in the quality of healthcare facilities in Moreh.
Addressing the unreliability of helicopter services in the hill districts.
Clearance of pending scholarships for students.
Construction of a bridge over the Imphal River in Chandel.
The Hon'ble Governor carefully noted down all the concerns raised by KZC and assured the delegation that he would look into the matters with due priority. KZC is grateful to the honorable Governor for hearing out our grievances and the DC of Churachandpur for arranging the meeting.
Following the meeting with the Governor, the KZC Cabinet also paid a courtesy visit to the Director General of Assam Rifles (DGAR) at the 27 Sector Headquarters, Tuibuong, where matters of security and stability in Kuki-Zo areas were discussed.
