A day after a woman was killed and six others injured near Haijang village, Lamka has witnessed another tragic accident. This morning, a man was found dead on the roadside grass between S. Geltui and S. Zezaw villages, along the Lamka–Singngat road (NH-102B).
The deceased has been identified as Mr. Pauzamuan, son of H. Henzakhup of S. Munpi village, Singngat sub-division.
According to local sources, the victim is suspected to have been hit by an unknown vehicle, which left him severely injured in the lower part of his body before his body was thrown onto the roadside.
The Zomi Youth Association (ZYA-GHQ) has issued a public notice urging the driver responsible for the incident to come forward. Meanwhile, members of the Zou Youth Organisation (ZYO) Singngat Block covered the deceased with a traditional Puanlaisan cloth. The villagers of Geltui and Zezaw, shocked and heartbroken at the moment they saw the body, tenderly covered it with their traditional cloth as a mark of respect and mourning.
S. Geltui and S. Zezaw, both Thangkhal villages, are located about 25–26 km away from the Lamka Police Station. As of now, the vehicle involved remains unidentified, and authorities are expected to launch an investigation.
Drivers in Lamka must remember that every passenger’s life is in their hands. In any accident, the fault lies with the driver—not with the passengers. Recklessness, negligence, or overspeeding can cost innocent lives. The safety of pedestrians and the public must not be neglected; it must be taken seriously. Every driver has a responsibility to ensure safe travel, because for every passenger, their life depends on the driver’s judgment and care.
