The trade route connecting Paletwa in Chin State with Lawngtlai district and Siaha district in Mizoram, India, has been suspended by the Central Young Lai Association (CYLA) following the shocking murder of Mr. Lalremsanga, a 37-year-old pickup truck driver.
According to reports, Mr. Lalremsanga had completed a delivery in Paletwa — an area currently under the control of the Arakan Army — before he went missing. His body was later found discarded in the Kaladan River, bringing a tragic end to the incident.
The CYLA strongly condemned the killing and called for immediate accountability, urging the Arakan Army to ensure a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. The organisation stressed that such violence cannot be tolerated and that justice must be delivered.
On 12 February, Mr. Lalremsanga reportedly arrived at Salahchuah village in Paletwa township at around 9:00 PM, after which he mysteriously disappeared. The following day, his identification documents and driving licence were returned to his brother by a local shop owner, raising further questions about what happened.
Three days later, his lifeless body was recovered from the Kaladan River.
