Two More Kuki Villages Burnt in Noney Amid Fresh Violence

Noney, July 15, 2026: Teikhang and Lenglong villages in the remote Lonpi area of Manipur's Noney district were reportedly set ablaze in a coordinated attack at around 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The attack allegedly involved Tangkhul-led factions of NSCN (Muivah) and ZUF-K, resulting in extensive destruction of property.

According to local sources, both villages had already been deserted earlier this month after residents fled due to fears of possible attacks. No casualties were immediately reported, as the villages were largely uninhabited at the time of the incident.

Community representatives claimed that Teikhang and Lenglong are the 18th and 19th Kuki villages to have been burnt since February 2026, alleging that the attacks were carried out by NSCN Naga militants.

The incident has further heightened tensions in the region and renewed calls for stronger security measures to protect vulnerable villages.
