Lamka, June 17, 2026: The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM), the apex body of the Kuki tribes, has strongly condemned what it described as the "unacceptable and deeply disturbing" actions of Central Security Forces in Leilon Vaiphei and adjoining villages following the June 15 attack that left three Kuki-Zo youths injured.
In a press statement issued by Kuki Inpi Media Cell on June 17, KIM alleged that security personnel stormed the village, imposed a military-style lockdown, conducted house-to-house searches, and shouted at villagers, including women, children, students, and the elderly.
The organization stated that the operation took place a day after the alleged attack by NSCN-IM militants, which reportedly left three Kuki-Zo students critically injured and undergoing medical treatment. KIM questioned why security forces were targeting villagers who were victims of violence while areas allegedly used by NSCN-IM militants remained untouched.
KIM described the actions as insensitive, unjustified, and harmful to already traumatized villagers. It urged the Government of India and relevant authorities to stop the alleged harassment of innocent civilians, ensure equal application of the law, and take action against those responsible for the attack.
KIM also called for justice for the injured youths and affected villagers, reiterating that peace cannot be achieved through selective action, intimidation, or double standards.
