A suspected militant was killed during an encounter between security forces and armed militants in Manipur on June 16, 2026, according to information received from the Assam Rifles.
According to Manipur Police, the encounter took place between Molphei and Songkong villages and involved a joint team of the Assam Rifles and the Indian Army conducting operations against suspected militants in the area.
During the operation, one suspected militant was neutralised. Security forces recovered an AK-47 rifle, along with magazines, ammunition, explosives, and other incriminating items from the encounter site.
A case has been registered in connection with the incident, and further investigation is underway.
