Imphal, June 16, 2026: The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) has clarified that it had no role in bringing three injured Kuki individuals to the hospital on 15 June and was not involved in the security arrangements made for their treatment.
In a statement, RIMS said the injured persons were referred and transported by 183 Military Hospital, Leimakhong for medical care. The institute noted that security measures related to their movement and treatment were handled by the concerned authorities.
The hospital stated that its responsibility is limited to providing medical treatment to all patients brought for care, regardless of their background or circumstances. It emphasised that attending to the injured and sick is a professional, ethical and humanitarian duty of healthcare workers.
RIMS also appealed to the public not to disrupt hospital services, pointing out that many critically ill and emergency patients depend on uninterrupted medical care. The institute sought cooperation and understanding from all sections of society to ensure the smooth functioning of healthcare services.
