Ukhrul Police Report Names NSCN-IM in March 2026 Killings

A continuation report issued by the Office of the Superintendent of Police, Ukhrul District, states that investigators have established the involvement of NSCN-IM cadres in the planning and execution of an attack that resulted in the deaths of two people.

The communication, addressed to the Director General of Police, Manipur, is dated 17 March 2026 and references the transfer of FIR No. 09(3)2026 LTN-PS. The report concerns the addition of Sections 16, 18, and 20 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 to the case.

According to the letter, the findings emerged during the course of further investigation. It states: “During the course of further investigation, it has been established that NSCN-IM cadres were involved in the planning and execution of the attack leading to the death of two persons.”

Based on these findings, the investigating authorities added Sections 16, 18, and 20 of the UAPA to the FIR to facilitate further investigation and legal proceedings.

The report was signed by Babitarani Swain, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Ukhrul District, Manipur, and submitted for “further necessary action.”

The document also indicates that copies were forwarded to senior police officials in Manipur, including the Additional Director General of Police (L&O/Int.), the Inspector General of Police (Z-III/Int.), the Deputy Inspector General of Police (R-IV), and the Superintendent of Police, NIA Branch Office, Imphal.

The continuation report forms part of the ongoing investigation into the case, with authorities pursuing further action under the provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
