Imphal, 9 July 2026: Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho has strongly condemned the ambush on a convoy of the 40 Assam Rifles at Nungshang Khong along National Highway 202 in Ukhrul district on 6 July 2026, in which two Assam Rifles personnel lost their lives.
In his statement, Dikho described the attack as a serious setback to ongoing peace efforts in the state. He noted that the incident occurred at a time when the Army and paramilitary forces were actively working to prevent further communal violence and restore peace.
The Deputy Chief Minister joined the Chief Minister in calling for those responsible to be identified, tracked down, arrested and punished according to the law. He also expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the two personnel and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, praying that God would grant them strength and comfort during their time of grief.
