KNA-NEI Rejects SADP, To Contest 2027 Assembly Polls

Lamka, July 27, 2026: The Kuki National Assembly–North East India (KNA-NEI) has rejected and condemned the proposed Separate Administration Demand Party (SADP), stating that it does not represent the democratic will or aspirations of the Kuki people.

In a press release issued on Monday from Songpi, KNA-NEI alleged that the proposed party, floated by the Suspension of Operations (SoO) signatory groups—the United People's Front (UPF) and the Kuki National Organisation (KNO)—lacks any democratic mandate from the Kuki community.

The organisation also criticised the SoO groups, accusing them of adopting a dictatorial approach and engaging in coercive electoral practices, including voter intimidation, vote capture, the private selection of candidates, and attempts to impose such candidates on the people.

KNA-NEI further expressed concern over what it described as the tacit support of successive Central Governments for the SoO groups. It asserted that Kuki people should not be forced, intimidated, or coerced into voting for or supporting candidates backed by militant groups under the banner of "Separate Administration" or "Separation from Manipur."

Highlighting its history, KNA-NEI said it has remained committed to the territorial integrity of Manipur since before India's Independence and recalled its opposition to the 1960 Sixteen-Point Agreement (Naga Accord) under the leadership of the late K.S. Seiboi Kipgen.

However, citing the ongoing violence and the complete breakdown of trust, the organisation announced that it has resolved to contest all Assembly constituencies in the 13th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election, 2027. It said the move is aimed at pursuing complete political separation from the Meiteis through constitutional, democratic, and non-violent means.

The organisation also reiterated its observance of the third day of every month as "Separation Day."

KNA-NEI stated that under the leadership of its President, Pu Dr. Jainson Haokip, it will seek the democratic mandate and blessings of the Kuki people in the forthcoming 2027 Assembly elections. The statement was issued by the Media & Publicity Wing of KNA-NEI.
