Kuki Inpi Clarifies Stand on CM’s Taphao Visit

Kangpokpi, July 10, 2026: The Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills (apex body of Kuki tribes) has issued a clarification regarding Chief Minister Y. Khemchand’s recent visit to Taphao Kuki village.

In a statement released on Friday, the organisation confirmed that a memorandum was submitted to the Chief Minister urging the resumption of essential commodities in the region.

Mr. Thangminlen Kipgen, President of Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills, stressed the importance of peaceful coexistence among communities and condemned targeted economic blockades. He emphasised that the appeal was rooted in safeguarding democratic rights and ensuring fair access to supplies.

The statement also rejected online narratives suggesting that the Kukis had surrendered their political movement, calling such claims “false and misleading.” The council reaffirmed its commitment to protecting community interests while promoting peace and dialogue.
