LNC Demands Action Over Unclaimed Bodies of 6 Slain Men

TAMEI — The Liangmai Naga Council (LNC), Manipur, has issued a press release highlighting that 73 days have passed since the alleged abduction and killing of six Liangmai Naga men by armed Kukis at Leilon Vaiphei village on May 13, 2026. According to the Council, the mortal remains of the victims continue to lie unclaimed at the JNIMS morgue in Imphal as families await justice.

The LNC expressed strong dissatisfaction over the lack of concrete action from the State Government despite earlier submissions, including a charter of demands by the United Naga Council (UNC). The Council noted that democratic protests—such as economic blockades, mass rallies, and candlelight vigils—have been ignored, accusing authorities of inaction and failure to make arrests or press charges.

Focusing on the investigation, the LNC urged the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and investigating agencies to interrogate the Village Chief of Leilon Vaiphei, citing the crime location as key evidence. The Council demanded that village leaders be held accountable and urged the de-recognition or abolition of the village to prevent future incidents.
