Imphal, the 6th July 2026
I. The overall law-and-order situation in the state during the last 24 hours was normal.
II. Two personnel of Assam Rifles were martyred today in an ambush by suspected militants on NH-202 near Noungshong Kong village under Ukhrul Police Station, Ukhrul district.
Security forces rushed to the site of the attack, where an exchange of fire took place. Further operations are underway to neutralise the militants.
III. Security forces continue to conduct search operations and area domination in the fringe and vulnerable areas across districts, resulting in the recovery of arms and ammunition:
- On 06.07.2026, during area domination and foot patrolling at Chiru village in Phayeng area under Kangchup Police Station, Kangpokpi district, personnel of Manipur Police recovered:
- One suspected IED
- Four locally made mortar shells
IV. Intelligence-based combing, cordon and search operations are being carried out extensively to nab those involved in extortion and criminal activities in the state:
- On 05.07.2026, security forces arrested an active cadre of URF, Md. Imran Khan alias Carbine (29) of Khabeisoi Sabal Leikai, Imphal East district, from Khurai Nandeibam Leikai area under Porompat Police Station, Imphal East district.

On 05.07.2026, security forces arrested an extortionist active cadre of NRFM, Sorokhaibam Pari Singh alias Ibungo (27) of Senjam Chirang Mayai Leikai, Imphal West district, from Luwangsangbam Makha Leikai under Heingang Police Station, Imphal East district.
The arrestee was involved in a recent firing incident at a residential house in Pangei, Imphal East, to intimidate residents and extort money.
- On 06.07.2026, security forces arrested two juvenile active cadres of KNF (MC) from the MVCP at P. Geljang, Churachandpur district, along with 77 rounds of 5.56 mm live ammunition.

On 06.07.2026, Manipur Police arrested an extortionist active cadre of UNLF (P), Moirangthem Naoba Meitei (32) of Serou Mamang Leikai, Kakching district, presently residing at Wangkhei Yonglan Leirak, Imphal East, from his current locality under Porompat Police Station.
The following items were recovered:
- One Thompson repeater single-barrel gun and gun licence
- Two Baofeng hand-held radio sets with two chargers
V. On 05.07.2026, following a complaint of sexual assault on a minor girl registered at Women Police Station, Senapati district, Manipur Police arrested the accused, K. Luckyson Pundi (33) of Maram Bazar under Maram Police Station, Senapati district, from his residence.
VI. On 04.07.2026, Manipur Police Training College, Pangei, in collaboration with the Manipur Forest Department, celebrated Van Mahotsav-2026 by planting 250 saplings inside the college campus.
The programme was presided over by the i/c Director of the College, Shri Sorokhaibam Gautam Singh, IPS, and attended by Shri Vikram Suresh Nadhe, IFS, DFO, Central Forest Division, Government of Manipur, as Chief Guest. A total of 180 personnel participated in the plantation and sensitisation programme.
The celebration was part of the college's continued efforts towards building a greener and healthier environment.
VII. Movement of 300 vehicles carrying essential items along NH-37 was ensured. Strict security measures were taken at vulnerable locations, and security convoys were provided in sensitive stretches to ensure safe movement of the vehicles.
VIII. A total of 113 nakas/checkpoints were installed across different districts of Manipur, both in the hills and the valley.
IX. The public has been urged not to believe rumours or false videos. The authenticity of any suspicious videos or audio clips may be verified through the Central Control Room (9233522822).
Authorities also warned that fake posts circulating on social media could invite legal action. The public has further been appealed to return any looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or the nearest security forces immediately.
