Rakhine State, August 11, 2026: At least 14 civilians were reportedly killed and eight others injured after a fighter jet allegedly carried out an airstrike in Kyaukkyi Village, Thandwe Township, Rakhine State, Myanmar, in the early hours of August 10.
According to a statement issued by the United League of Arakan/Arakan Army (ULA/AA), troops belonging to the SSPC carried out the attack at around 1:00 am, dropping three bombs from a fighter jet near the Dhamma Yaung Chi monastery school in Kyaukkyi Village.
The statement said the bombing caused extensive destruction, with approximately 20 civilian houses reportedly completely destroyed. Several civilians were also reported to have been killed or wounded in the attack.
The ULA/AA further alleged that similar airstrikes have been carried out in Thandwe Township in recent weeks. On August 3 at around 10:30 am, more than 60 bombs were reportedly dropped from a warplane over No. 9 Ward in Ngapali Town, resulting in civilian casualties and damage to around 20 houses.
The statement also alleged that airstrikes were conducted in villages across Thandwe Township on July 19, 23, 24, 27 and 31, causing further civilian casualties and property damage.
The reported figures and allegations could not be independently verified. The incident comes amid continued armed conflict in Rakhine State, where airstrikes and fighting have repeatedly affected civilian communities.
