Kangpokpi, August 5, 2026: The Committee on Tribal Unity (COTU), Sadar Hills, Kangpokpi District, has announced that its ongoing counter blockade along National Highway-2 (NH-2) will continue until the United Naga Council (UNC) withdraws its inter-district blockade.
In a public advisory issued on Wednesday, COTU stated that the decision was taken during a review meeting held on August 4, 2026. The organisation resolved to continue the counter blockade imposed against the UNC's blockade, which it said was affecting the Kuki-Zo people of Kangpokpi district.
However, COTU also announced that passengers travelling on the highway and empty vehicles would be allowed to pass through after proper checking and verification.
