SENAPATI — The Government of Manipur has announced the implementation of the Dr Ambedkar Medical Aid Scheme (Revised-2026) in Senapati district, offering financial assistance for treatment of serious, life-threatening diseases among eligible Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) patients.

A notice issued by the District Social Welfare Officer, Senapati, on 24 August 2026 said the scheme is being implemented by the Dr Ambedkar Foundation (DAF), an autonomous organisation under India's Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
The assistance is available to eligible patients whose annual family income is below Rs 5 lakh.
The maximum financial assistance ranges from Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 3.5 lakh, depending on the treatment. Kidney surgery or dialysis and kidney or organ transplants have a maximum ceiling of Rs 3.5 lakh, while cancer treatment is covered up to Rs 2.5 lakh. Brain surgery and other life-threatening diseases are eligible for assistance of up to Rs 2 lakh, while heart and spinal surgeries are covered up to Rs 1.5 lakh.
Eligible applicants can apply by post using the prescribed application format. Applications may be submitted either on the prescribed printed form or on plain paper prepared according to the prescribed proforma.
The notice said application guidelines, forms and further details are available on the Dr Ambedkar Foundation website, dosje.gov.in.
Beneficiaries may also approach the District Social Welfare Office in Senapati for guidance and assistance.
