IMPHAL, August 12, 2026: Manipur Police on Wednesday felicitated three distinguished sportspersons from the State who brought laurels to Manipur and the nation by winning medals at the recently concluded Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
The medal winners felicitated at the programme were Shri Jadumani Singh Mandengbam, who won the silver medal in the men’s 55 kg boxing category; Shri Chanambam Rishikanta Singh, who secured silver in the men’s 60 kg weightlifting category; and Smt. Bindyarani Devi Sorokhaibam, who won bronze in the women’s 58 kg weightlifting category.
The felicitation programme was held at Police Headquarters, Mantripukhri, where the athletes received a warm reception from Manipur Police. Bouquets and lengyans were presented to the medal winners, followed by an interaction session during which they shared their sporting journeys, challenges and experiences at the Commonwealth Games.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Mukesh Singh, IPS, Director General of Police, Manipur, congratulated the athletes on their outstanding achievements and commended their dedication, perseverance and commitment to excellence. He said their success would serve as an inspiration to the youth of Manipur as well as personnel of Manipur Police.
The DGP also presented tokens of honour to the three athletes as a mark of appreciation and recognition of their achievements. The programme concluded with light refreshments and informal interaction among the athletes and police personnel.
The achievements of the three sportspersons have brought immense pride to Manipur and the nation while once again highlighting the State’s rich sporting legacy. Manipur Police extended its heartfelt congratulations to the medal winners and wished them continued success in their future sporting endeavours.
