Noney Celebrates 80th Independence Day

Noney, August 15, 2026 (DIO-IPR): The 80th Independence  Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour at the Longmai III Public Ground, on Saturday. Chief guest Vidyamari Sridhar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Noney, hoisted the National Flag and took the Rashtriya Salute before a large gathering of District Level Officers, civil officials, security personnel and residents.


The chief guest In his independence day speech stated that Noney district has given a great freedom fighter Haipou Jadonang to the nation who fought against the Colonial British rule. He also stated that we should remember the sacrifices of our freedom fighter who has dedicated their lives for the cause of our nation. 

He also urged the people gathering for the independence day celebration to renew our commitment to the ideals of our constitution and to the vision of a strong, peaceful, inclusive and developed India.


Parade commander Ph. Gaithoipou Kabui, MPS, SDPO, Noney, lead the march past contingencies of the 80th Indipendence day celebration. 19th Assam rifles pipe band open the independence day celebration by playing the national anthem.

Credential certificates were also presented to best-performing employees from various departments in recognition of their service.

Special award is also given to Namding Panmei, OC, Nungba for his outstanding service, a cash prize of ₹25000/- and a memento was presented by the chief guest of the Indpendence day celebration.

The ceremony concluded with an insightful vote of thanks delivered by SDO Longmai Ziaur Rehman, who acknowledged the organisers, participants and security personnel for making the event a success.


Manipur Today magazine published by Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) was also distributed to the public present in the celebration. As part of the Independence day celebration Red blankets for the senior citizens of Noney district was also presented by the Deputy Commissioner of Noney. 

The Independence Day was also celebrated in other sub-divisions of Noney district.
