Pherzawl Gears Up for 80th Independence Day; Full-Dress Rehearsal Held

PHERZAWL, August 14 2026: Pherzawl district is all set to celebrate the 80th Independence Day, with a full-dress rehearsal held at Pherzawl Ground today to ensure a smooth and dignified conduct of the district-level celebration on August 15.

Deputy Commissioner Shri Anunay Anand, IAS, reviewed the arrangements and took the salute during the rehearsal. He directed the departments concerned to ensure that all preparations are completed and the Independence Day programme is conducted smoothly and in a befitting manner.

The participating contingents included police personnel and school students, adding a sense of discipline and patriotic fervour to the rehearsal.

The Deputy Commissioner will hoist the National Flag at Pherzawl Ground on August 15, while Shri Jangkholen Haokip, MPS, Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Parbung, will command the parade. The programme will also feature cultural performances as part of the Independence Day celebrations.

Meanwhile, Pherzawl Police led by Superintendent of Police Shri T. Lalboi Haokip, MPS, along with Special AIG (Housing) Shri Lunkhomang Khongsai, MPS, organised National Unity Day to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Participants took the Unity Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to national unity and solidarity.

The full-dress rehearsal marked the final stage of preparations by the district administration, underscoring its focus on ensuring an Independence Day celebration marked by discipline, dignity and patriotic fervour.
