Lamka, August 8, 2026: The Thingchom Village Authority has strongly condemned the alleged recovery of weapons from the village area linked to self-proclaimed UKNA Hmar Region’s Army Chief, R. C. Singson, following his arrest by security forces.
In a condemnation letter dated August 7, 2026, the Thingchom Village Authority said it was “extremely shocked” by media reports that weapons allegedly belonging to Singson were recovered from the jungle of Thingchawm village after he was arrested by security forces.
The authority described Singson as an outsider and “a complete stranger” to Thingchawm, alleging that his actions had tarnished the image and reputation of the village by hiding weapons within its jurisdiction without the knowledge or approval of the villagers.
The village authority said such an act was disrespectful and had placed Thingchawm and its residents in a wrong light. It strongly condemned the alleged act and stated that such incidents should not be repeated in Thingchawm by any individual or organisation in the future.
The condemnation letter was signed by the Chief/Chairman and secretaries and chairpersons representing the Thingchom Village Authority, Val-Upa, TACC, TYC, HYA, HWA and HSA.
