Ukhrul, August 13, 2026 (DIO): The District Administration, Ukhrul today observed the 135th Patriots' Day at DRDA Hall, Mini Secretariat Complex, Hamleikhong remembering those martyrs who laid down their lives during the Anglo-Manipur War in 1891.
As part of the observance, floral tributes were offered to the photographs of Bir Tigendrajit and Thangal General which was led by Smt. Polly Makan (MCS), the Additional District Megistrate, Ukhrul and followed by the DLOs of various departments, after which a two-minute silence is observed to pay solemn tributes to the patriots.
Addressing the gathering, the ADM paid homage to the patriots for their courage and supreme sacrifices during the Anglo-Manipur War of 1891 in defence of the sovereignty of their motherland. Stating that their legacy remains a source of inspiration, she called upon all sections of the society to keep the legacy of the patriots by working together for a peaceful and harmonious Manipur.
The observance was
attended by all the DLOs and staffs of various departments under the district
administration.
