CoBRA Detains Five USRA Cadres; Women Storm AR Camp in Hengkot

LAMKA, September 11, 2026: Security forces reportedly detained five cadres of the United Socialist Revolutionary Army (USRA), a Kuki National Organisation (KNO)-linked group under the Suspension of Operations (SoO) framework, at Hengkot village in Churachandpur district on Friday morning.

According to preliminary reports, personnel of the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) carried out the operation at Hengkot and picked up the five USRA cadres. The circumstances leading to the reported detention, including whether the men were formally arrested and the charges, if any, remain unclear.

Following the reported detention, Kuki-Zo women reportedly stormed an Assam Rifles camp at Hengkot, demanding the immediate release of the five USRA cadres. The incident reportedly led to tension in the area as the women sought answers over the security operation and the whereabouts of those detained.

The reported action comes days after security forces allegedly entered a camp of another KNO-linked SoO group, the Kuki Liberation Army / Kuki Liberation Organisation (KLA/KLO).
