MDoNER Secretary Reviews Development Projects in Manipur

Imphal, September 6, 2026: Secretary of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER), Shri Srinivas Katikithala, concluded a four-day visit to Manipur on Friday (Sep 4) to review the progress of development projects and schemes being implemented under MDoNER and the North Eastern Council (NEC).

Katikithala arrived in Imphal on September 2 and was received by senior officials of the Manipur Government. During his visit, he called on the Governor and Chief Minister of Manipur and held discussions with the Chief Secretary on the State’s development priorities.

A high-level review meeting was also held at the Main Conference Hall of the Civil Secretariat, Mantripukhri, with senior officials from various State departments.

The meeting reviewed the progress of projects under MDoNER and NEC, along with initiatives under the Oil Palm Mission, Industry 4.0 in manufacturing and measures to strengthen logistics across the North Eastern Region.

Discussions also covered sectors including forest, health, transport, commerce and industries, handloom and textiles, agriculture, horticulture, fisheries, tourism, youth affairs and sports, and veterinary and animal husbandry. The USP Manipur Polo initiative and investment-related initiatives were also reviewed.

The meeting reaffirmed the Government of India’s commitment to accelerating infrastructure development and promoting socio-economic growth in Manipur.

During the visit, the Secretary, MDoNER personally inspected several ongoing infrastructure projects funded under MDoNER schemes, including NESIDS, across Imphal East, Imphal West and Bishnupur districts:
