Nest Lamka Hosts Event on Responsible Media Reporting

LAMKA — To mark World Suicide Prevention Day 2026, Nest Lamka organized an event titled "Conversations @ NEST: Changing the Narrative in Lamka" focused on "Responsible media for responsible reporting on Suicide Prevention". The program took place on September 10, 2026, from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at Hall No. 1 of the Nest Lamka Youth Resource Centre. The initiative was held in partnership with the Churachandpur District Journalists' Union (CDJU) and the Churachandpur Working Reporters Union (CWRU).

The session covered several key agenda points:

  • Welcome Note: Presented by the Director of Nest Lamka.

  • Presentation: Delivered by the Health Department, Nest Lamka, on responsible media practices for suicide prevention reporting.

  • Discussion & Experience Sharing: Media personnel shared knowledge and insights on suicide and its impact on the local community.

  • Promoting Safe Reporting: Discussions focused on establishing and promoting safe reporting standards in media.

  • Media Advocacy: Explored ways the media can advocate for suicide prevention and raise awareness about available helpline sources.

  • Building Collaborations: Participants examined collaborative strategies to foster an informed, compassionate, and suicide-safe community.

  • Reflection and Commitment: Led by Ginsuanthang, Counsellor at Nest Lamka.

The event concluded with a High Tea session, reaffirming the shared commitment to nurturing lives and building sustainable futures through responsible media engagement.
