Kuki Inpi Slams Killing of Three Village Volunteers in Noney area

LAMKA, October 31, 2026: The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM), the apex body of the Kuki tribes, has expressed outrage and profound grief over the alleged brutal killing of three Kuki-Zo village volunteers in Noney district, accusing cadres of the NSCN-IM and ZUF(K) of committing the crime.

In a press statement issued by its Information and Publicity Janghaolun Haokip on October 31, 2026, Kuki Inpi Manipur described the incident as a barbaric attack on the lives, dignity and survival of the Kuki-Zo people in their homeland.

The organisation alleged that the killing was a direct consequence of the state's failure to provide adequate security to vulnerable Kuki-Zo communities in Noney district, despite repeated warnings about threats, armed intimidation and violence.

According to the statement, the three village volunteers had been compelled to defend their homes and lives due to the alleged absence of adequate state protection.

Kuki Inpi further expressed shock over what it described as acts of extreme brutality following the killings, alleging that the perpetrators physically desecrated and kicked the bodies of the deceased while mocking their fallen victims.

Describing the alleged conduct as an affront to human dignity and humanity, the organisation said such acts could never be tolerated or excused in any civilised society.

Kuki Inpi Accuses Authorities of Negligence

The apex body directly accused the authorities of complicity through deliberate negligence, alleging that the continued unchecked activities of armed groups and the government's failure to protect Kuki-Zo settlements had created an atmosphere of insecurity in Noney district and surrounding areas.

It further alleged that the government's continued tolerance of NSCN-IM operations had allowed the group to function as a proxy instrument for advancing vested political interests at the expense of Kuki-Zo lives.

Holding the government constitutionally, legally and morally responsible for the bloodshed, Kuki Inpi Manipur called for immediate and concrete action to ensure justice and accountability.

Demands Justice and Immediate State Action

Kuki Inpi Manipur expressed solidarity with the bereaved families and the entire Kuki-Zo community, stating that the ultimate sacrifice of the three village volunteers must not be reduced to mere statistics.

The organisation demanded justice, accountability and immediate intervention by the government, warning that silence and inaction in the face of such alleged atrocities amounted to complicity.
