Congress Committee, Saikul Block Gears Up for 2027 Polls

Imphal, August 31, 2026: The Saikul Block Congress Committee has begun preparations for the 2027 Manipur Legislative Assembly election, with the party reconstituting its block-level committee and assigning responsibilities to 41 office-bearers. An order issued by Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee president O. Ibobi Singh on August 10, 2026, approved the reconstitution of the Saikul Block Congress Committee with immediate effect and until further orders. Nepal Floods Death Toll Rises to 768!

The death toll from flash floods in central Nepal has risen to 768, with more bodies being recovered. More than 2,500 people are still missing following the disaster. Bodies have been recovered from all eight affected districts as rescuers race against time to search for those missing and rescue those stranded on the 5th day since the disaster. National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority of #Nepal said, rescuers have so far evacuated 8,186 people from the affected districts, including 227 foreigners. #NepalFloods

Two Kuki Villagers Killed in NSCN-IM Attack on IT Road

LAMKA, August 31, 2026: Teikhang village along the IT Road in Kangpokpi district, Manipur, has been reportedly came under attack by NSCN-IM militants, this morning. Saikul MLA Kimneo Meets Island Block Vaiphei IDPs

SAIKUL MLA Kimneo Haokip Hangshing, accompanied by her workers, met Vaiphei internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Island Block who have been taking shelter in Songpi, Churachandpur, following the conflict that began in 2023. The meeting, held after nearly three years, was described by the MLA as a deeply emotional encounter.
