North East Festival 2013 Set to Celebrate at IGNCA Delhi: Music, Food & Culture

THE first-ever North East Festival is set to be organised at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, Janpath, New Delhi, on November 8–9, 2013. This upcoming festival is a people's initiative, bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds—students, bureaucrats, corporate professionals, entrepreneurs, and politicians—to jointly make it happen.

The event will follow a carnival format, with live musical performances all day at the amphitheater, while serious discussions on business, economy, and socio-political issues of the Northeast will take place in the conference halls.

Each evening will feature performances by some of the best artists from Northeast India, recognized on both national and international stages, at the main stage area. Alongside this, there will be an exhibition of handloom and handicraft items from the Northeast in the exhibition zone.

A dedicated tourism zone will also be set up, where 25 tour operators from the region will guide visitors through a virtual tour of the Northeast and offer special travel packages at discounted rates.

Ethnic North Eastern Food Zone

One of the biggest attractions of the festival will be the Ethnic North Eastern Food Zone. Renowned chefs such as Chef Mary Lalboi, Chef Atul Lahkar, Nagaland Kitchen, and Dzuko will present authentic cuisines from all the eight Northeastern states, representing a wide range of tribes and communities.
