NTR Gardens Hyderabad – Memorial Park of Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao

NTR Gardens is a popular park and memorial in Hyderabad, built in memory of Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (N.T.R.), a beloved actor and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. He was born on May 28, 1923, and passed away on January 18, 1996. The construction of the garden began in 1996 and was completed in 1999. It was officially opened to the public by the then Chief Minister, Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu, on May 28, 1999.

Located near the famous Hussain Sagar Lake, NTR Gardens covers about 36 acres of land. It offers a peaceful atmosphere with well-kept lawns, fountains, flower beds, and walking paths. The park also has a variety of attractions, including a mini train, a Japanese garden, and a children’s play area, making it a favourite spot for families and tourists.

The memorial stands as a tribute to N.T. Rama Rao’s life and his contributions to Telugu cinema and politics. Apart from being a place of remembrance, the gardens have become a major recreational centre in Hyderabad, combining natural beauty and modern entertainment. Visitors come here to relax, take photos, and enjoy the view of the city’s skyline and the nearby lake.

From the garden, visitors can also see the towering statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, which stands prominently nearby, adding to the area’s historical and cultural significance.

The well-known Birla Mandir is also not far from the garden—it stands nearby on the hill, offering a beautiful view of the lake and city. Many visitors often plan to visit both places together.
