Historically, the British recognized tribes living in Western Myanmar, Northeast India, and Bangladesh's Chittagong Hill Tracts as Kukis in the 1720s. The region was mapped as the British Map of Kuki Country or Kukiland and formalized in 1904, later acknowledged by the United Nations. So it cannot be called Zoland, Zalengam or Zogam at any cost.
Only Bangladesh, India, and Myanmar can cede these lands based on recorded history. The US and UN can determine the formation of a separate Kuki country, grounded in British records and Kuki history.
Kuki country is our rightful political heritage, yet political sovereignty can only be settled in accordance with the 1969 UN declaration. Any further attempts to regain and restore pre-colonial sovereignty without the rightful name 'Kuki' will be void and null.
The 1904 British Map of Kukiland cannot be reclaimed through violent means or under the name 'Zo'. Instead, it requires collaboration with the United Nations Human Rights, solely under the name 'Kuki'.
Mizoram CM Pu Lalduhoma's attempts to create a country using 'Zo' are misguided and echo former CM Laldenga's failed endeavors to claim Kuki country in the 1960s. Any attempts to claim the land under a name other than Kuki will be futile.
In fact, 'Zo' is derived from 'Mizo', making it impossible to term Kuki and Chin as 'Zo'. All tribes within the British Map of Kuki Country are indeed Kukis.
Long live the Kuki Nation!
