Lamka, July 6, 2025 — A troubling incident has surfaced in Churachandpur District, where Major Yadu Krishnan of the 37 Assam Rifles (Khuga Battalion) allegedly assaulted a local resident, Mr. Ginneihthuang, aged 46.
According to reports, Mr. Ginneihthuang was beaten without any provocation, sustaining serious injuries that led to his hospitalization.
The alleged assault has sparked public concern regarding the conduct of security forces in the area, particularly given the Assam Rifles' long-held motto, "Friends of the Hill People." The incident has raised questions about the force's commitment to protecting the local population and calls for greater accountability and oversight.
