Government of India, Ministry of Culture, National Archives of India, Public Records Division, Ref No. NAI/PRD/2025/0735, Dated, 19th February 2025 states:
1. That the notion that the Naga Chief had authority over Kukis contradicts colonial governance structures, as manipulated by some Kacha Nagas.
2. J.H. Hutton (Census of India, 1931) and R. Brown (Statistical Account of Manipur,1873) classified the Kukis as Hill Tribe of Manipur.
3. There is no reference in British official documents that describe the Kukis in Manipur as ALIENS and REFUGEES as manipulated by some sections of Kacha Nagas.
