The Any Kuki Tribes Council (AKTC), Apex Body of Kuki Sub-tribes subscribing to ‘Any *-Kuki Tribes’ which is one of the 34 recognised Scheduled Tribes in Manipur warmly welcomes the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji on his first-ever visit to Lamka on September 13, 2025.

The AKTC really appreciates the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s willingness to engage with us and understand the challenges we face which is a testament to his willingness to address the concern of our community. However, we cannot overlook the atrocities committed against the Kuki-people by the majority Meitei community, supported by state security forces. The loss of many innocent lives, destruction of homes and places of worship and displacement of thousands of our people are still fresh in our minds.

In light of these events, the Kuki-people would like to reiterate our demand for a separate political administration by way of Union Territory with legislature. This demand is not driven by a desire for separation but by a need for self-governance and protection of our rights and interests. This arrangement would enable our community to govern ourselves and address our unique needs, promoting peace and stability in the region. We hope the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s visit will pave the way for meaningful dialogue and concrete actions to address our concerns. We look forward to a more equitable and just solution for the people of our community.
