🌿 How a Couple Brought a Rainforest Back to Life in India 🌍

In 1991, Anil and Pamela Malhotra purchased 55 acres of barren farmland in Kodagu (Coorg), Karnataka. The land had been stripped bare by deforestation and overuse — nearly dead.

Instead of walking away, they decided to heal it. Over the next three decades, they planted thousands of native trees, restored natural water streams, and slowly brought the land back to life. Bit by bit, they expanded their efforts, eventually restoring more than 300 acres — now known as the Saujanya Conservation Reserve.

🌱 What stands there today:

A thriving rainforest ecosystem

Habitat for over 200 endangered species of plants and animals

A safe haven for elephants, tigers, leopards, wild boars, deer, snakes, and countless birds

A living forest that helps regulate rainfall, recharge groundwater, and store carbon

The Malhotras' work shows how determination and care can revive even the most damaged landscapes.
💬 If two people can bring back a rainforest, imagine what entire communities could achieve together.
